Sylvan Elected as the Fifth Faction, Line-up Vote Time!

Taking the lead since day 1 and never giving Fortress a chance, Sylvan has become the Fifth Faction of Heroes 7, elected by Might & Magic fans with a dominating 66% of the votes. No stop here, as we already have a new voting process in progress: Sylvan possible lineups! The three options mix classic creatures with new ones, offering a more defensive, balanced and offensive approach. Since the vote ends in 2 weeks, drop your thoughts on this thread while you make up your mind!

Heroes 7 website also got two additional updates: Tales of the Ten Years War, part 2 was released, the story continues after Maeve’s death. Additionally, we got the first Screenshot of the Day, which shows a new battlefield, and both Gargoyles & Golems models in game. Expect more in the future.

Finally, Elvin has started a series of polls which may or not have any effect on the development of H7 but they should give a clearer picture of what the majority of fans favours and what it would rather avoid. The first poll is focused on the Magic System, so don’t hesitate to vote & comment in order to make your voice heard!

Now, here are some of the most significant news about H7. Remember that we keep all relevant updates on the news thread:

- Limbic Entertainment is the developer choice for Heroes 7. They aren't new to the M&M franchise, having worked previously on Heroes 6 patching process, and fully developing Might & Magic X: Legacy. A group of Ubisoft employees is also helping Limbic on the production of H7.

- The Shadow Council is Limbic/Ubisoft approach to give the fans an opportunity to be part of the development of the game. Us (fans) we'll be able to vote on certain features of the game, as well as interacting with devs and more! You can read more about it here.

- H7 will feature six factions on release: Haven, Necropolis, Academy, Stronghold and two voted by the community. Right now the vote of the fifth faction is taking place, between Sylvan and Fortress!

- It is confirmed that both Paul Anthony Romero and Rob King will work on H7 music, as Romero himself confirmed on Facebook.

- We have the first gameplay video, courtesy of IGN. The video is focused on the demo map presented at Gamescom, and it showcases some of the strengths of Unreal Engine 3 (H7 engine), like altering the adventure map during the game.

- We already have the first two Q&A, both with important revelations. The first one was part of H7 press kit, while the second one was carried out by Celestial Heavens. Worth their read, I promise!

Might & Magic Announcement At Gamescom 2014?

Gamescom has been the selected venue to host Might & Magic announcements in the past (Heroes 6, Heroes Online, Raiders), and it seems this year Ubisoft will have something big to reveal. Yesterday we discovered a special page in the Might & Magic website, with a quote from the Griffin storyline and a counter which ends on the thirteen of this month at 12:00 a.m. CEST. That’s the first day of Gamescom 2014!

The quote itself was presented earlier this week and refers to the 4th Eclipse, when the Falcon Empire falls and the Griffin duchy rises to power. That looks to be the setting for the next presumed Might & Magic game, 300 years after Heroes VI and 100 before Heroes V.

Gamescom will take place on August13-17, so stay tuned!

HotA 1.3.3, VCMI 0.96 and more!

The fan-made addon for Heroes 3, Horn of the Abyss has received its third major patch since the release of the 1.3 version. Alongside with the usual bug fixes and some balance changes, this patch adds more content to the game: 5/2 new One/Two Way Monoliths, the Cannon Yard, an underground lava battlefield, improved graphics for Hydra Pond and Dragon Cave, as well as correcting many SoD graphical flaws & inconsistencies. You can read the extensive changelog, as well as download the patch from here.

VCMI, the project that aims to recreate the entire H3 engine, is also happy to announce the release of the 0.96 version. The addition of spell modding opens more possibilities, and the Random Map Generator was also improved. While not complete yet, we can expect more improvements in the upcoming versions. In the meantime, you can find the 0.96 changelog and download link in the official page.

To our surprise, Salamandre has apparently taken a small break from his retirement and shared several miscellaneous MODs that’ll make life of ERA (the platform that continues the work of Wake of Gods addon) users easier. We are very happy to see him again! :)

On Duel of Champions front, all Griffin Bane cards have been unveiled (available on Duel of Champions website), and the expansion was released this week.

M&M X Development Ends, New DoC Expansion: Griffin Bane

The development cycle of Might & Magic X: Legacy has come to an end. After the release of the first (and only) Downloadable Content Pack (DLC) back in March, a big silence followed until this announcement which might have caught off guard some fans waiting for more improvements to the game. Either way, in the article it is mentioned that Limbic “is now switching to exciting new projects. [...] you will hear about Might & Magic again soon.“. With Gamescom taking place this August, I would stay tuned!

Meanwhile Duel of Champions (DoC) team have already announced the sixth expansion for the game, Griffin Bane. To be released around mid-July , this expansion will feature 100 new cards to complement with the Base Set 2, which was released earlier in March to reset the Meta of the game and offer a fresh start. You can read the latest updates on our discussion thread. Additionally Kurt McClung, lead writer of the M&M franchise, talked about the story this second season of DoC addons covers. If you are interested in Ashan lore, you can read it right here.

New M&M X: DLC, New DoC Expansion, HOMM3 Anniversary

The first Downloadable Content Pack (DLC) for Might & Magic X: Legacy has been released, together with the second official patch, and a delayed MAC version on Steam. This DLC adds a new quest line, 2 new dungeons and several creatures from Haven faction; and it's available on both Uplay and Steam.

The Online Card Game set on Ashan universe, Duel of Champions, saw the release of both Heart of Nightmares expansion and Base Set 2. Among other things, this fifth expansion features a new game interface, new and improved ranking & matchmaking system, unveils more sets of the campaign and lots of balance changes thanks to the aforementioned Base Set 2. The introduction of the standard format has given birth to a more diverse meta, a welcomed change by the players. If you want to know more about this Free-to-Play game in its current iteration, join the forum thread.

Last but not least, Heroes of Might & Magic III: the Restoration of Erathia reached its fifteen birthday, and Ubisoft decided to celebrate this remarkable date. Interviews to Heroes 3 developers David Mullich and Chris Vanover -Sir Christian- can be found here, where they talk about the development of H3. A gallery with sketches and art concepts from George Almond, illustrator of H3, can be found of the official Might & Magic Facebook. Let me wish a happy birthday to Heroes 3!

Might & Magic X: Legacy released!

Following its 23 January release, Might & Magic X: Legacy has received positive reviews, with an average score of 71/100 in Metacritic.com. While the game was suffering from a significant amount of bugs and performance issues, the first post-release patch has largely remedied the situation. This patch does not only bring bugfixes & improved performance, it also adds 3 new dungeons into the game. Feel free to share your thoughts here.

In other news, the recently released Heroes III MOD Horn of the Abyss saw the release of two hotfix patches (versions 1.3.1 and 1.3.2), and with a 1.3.3 patch on the horizon, the future looks bright. Don't hesitate and jump into the strategy & bug report discussions in the renamed Heroes 3.5 - WoG and Beyond forum section :)

Special thanks to Storm-Giant for offering a helping hand with the news items.
