Narrative: As you foresaw milord, King Gryphonheart's death brings many opportunities for your mercenary skills. A messenger from Tatalia, on behalf of King Tralossk, has contacted us. Twenty years ago, following numerous border skirmishes along the western shore of Erathia, Tatalia signed an agreement to cease hostillities. King Gryphonheart is dead. Their agreement has died with him. Agressive tactics have never been part of Tatalia's military character. Their ranks are vast, and once they possess Erathian land, they will hold it. However, they need generals to guide their heroes to expand their borders and accomodate their growing population.

Size: Medium

Suggested Solution:

A. Starting bonus - your choice (Korbac, Verdish, or Random Fortress Hero)

B. Approach - Take your time defeating the enemy to assure proper development of your heroes

C. Strategy - There isn't really any pressure on you in the scenario so take your time picking the heroes you like and advancing them. The computer starts with three towns - all of which are fortress - but at no point will its armies be more powerful than your own. As a start, take a couple of steps to the right of your starting town to be pleasantly surprised. Then visit the Redwood Observatory to the left. You'll want to be looking for ore and wood (LOT'S of wood). Fortunately, there is enough of that to rocket you right up to Wyverns with a citadel for both your towns in week one. Hire a hero for your second town and may be a couple more to help you explore more efficiently. You're allowed to advance up to level 12 here, as you already know, so make sure you take advantage of it. You can opt to either destroy the computer player quickly and rely on neutral army camps to level yourself up, or you could let the computer grow and use it for that purpose. In any case, you won't need more than four level 12 heroes. Make sure you have both a fighter and a mage, though. The enemy bases are located in the south-eastern part of the map. You can pinpoint their locations with the help of the Magi Hut nearby. When you're done advancing, mop up and flag all the mines which aren't already yours.
