Sprite - Sorceress Creature of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 Sprite is an attack-oriented creature that can deal good damage at any point on the battlefield and get away with it. 2 Hit points per sprite make it difficult to handle attacks, so try not to leave sprites where they can be attacked. The best uses for sprites are to finish off weaker enemy units and to charge unguarded shooters. When not in use on the battlefield, sprites should be kept far away from the action since they can fly into it when required. The use for sprites later on is to attack the best enemy units without the fear of retaliation.
Dwarf - Sorceress Creature of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 Dwarf has the best hit points, damage and attack for level 2. The only drawback is speed, limiting what a good dwarf can do. Magic resistance is an unique abbility with a 25% chance to be unaffected by enemy spells, making dwarf an even tougher creature. Best used as a defender for elves and druids, dwarf is the only sorceress creature that has slow speed. It is reasonable to leave the dwarves out of the final army for that reason (your hero will move further in one turn), they will defend the castle well anyway.
Elf - Sorceress Creature of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 Elf is quite low on attack and damage, but two shots per attack make up for it well. Druid is however a better deal than elf, so only hire elves if there are no druids available. Keep in mind that elf's 24 shots are equal to 12 rounds. Another thing to remember is that elf can only use his teeny weeny knife when the enemy is standing next to him, not even two attacks there, so keep your elves well defended, dwarves can do it well at the early stages of the game, then the unicorns who blind the approaching enemies.
Druid - Sorceress Creature of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 Druid is the second best shooter in the game, after the big purple troll. Druid actually has same defence as troll and even higher damage, but lacks attack, hit points and of course the troll's unique regeneration abbility. Druid is an excellent shooter, but 8 shots can run out quickly. Druids and elves together make an unstoppable shooting combo. Druids may be hard to get in some cases due to the 10 mercury required.
Unicorn - Sorceress Creature of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 Unicorn is able to do the most damage in level 5. Backed up by nice defence and hit points, unicorn makes an excellent defender for the shooting duo and doubles as a great attack unit. Blinding abbility is great for approaching enemies. If one enemy is blinded, move on to the next, if the next is blinded too, go back to the first one since he will recover from the spell sooner. When fighting against unicorns, attack them with all your units: there's only one retaliation and all your troops are not likely to be blinded if attacking together.
Phoenix - Sorceress Creature of Heroes of Might and Magic 1 Phoenix is about half as good as dragon. Fast speed to go first, nice attack and damage, 100 hit points and a 2 hex attack make phoenix a good unit to attack the enemy shooters straight away while the unicorns are getting there or protecting the shooters. Try to get two enemies at once with that breath. Beware that an enemy can make phoenix retaliate and get both himself and one of your units with that long breath, so position phoenixes carefully.
